Ševcová, Markéta ; Havlůjová, Hana (advisor) ; Sládková, Kateřina (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to compile and subsequently implement an educational programme focused on the history of the royal town of Nymburk. The educational programme is called Křížem krážem Nymburkem or Nymburk in the Changes of Time. The aim of this work is also to reveal the weaknesses of the educational programme that has already been implemented and to suggest changes for further implementation. The first part of the thesis focuses on a comparison of educational programmes in Nymburk district offered by the following remembrance institutions: the State District Archive of Nymburk, located in Lysá nad Labem, the Polabské muzeum Poděbrady, the Polabské národopisné muzeum Přerov nad Labem, the Nymburk City Museum ant the Loučeň castle. In this part the thesis also deals with the theory of educational programmes, how the programmes should be created from a professional point of view, what educational elements should be included according to the age category. A suitable tool for primary school pupils is experiential pedagogy, which is also used in the submitted educational programme. The thesis also briefly deals with the history of the royal town of Nymburk in one of its parts and then goes to the concept of the educational programme. The educational programme itself focuses on informing...

Šmíd, Petr ; Čechura, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Hrachová, hana (referee)
Capital jurisdiction, criminality and everyday life on domain of Náchod and in king's town Nymburk between the years 1513-1618 In this diploma paper I dealt with criminality and everyday life on the early modern domain of Náchod and in the king's town Nymburk between the years 1513-1620. Firstly I tried to describe how the town councils worked and with which central regulations they operated. Secondly I did the statistic quatification of all criminal delicts which are mentioned in "pitch" or "black" books of Náchod and Nymburk and other materials of court provenance. Then I compared court causes from other "pitch"/ "black" books which were published in the past with material from Náchod's and Nymburk's archive. I managed to use modern historical methods such as microhistory and historical anthropology to show which postures took early modern society to different types of criminal delicts or problematic phenomenona like sexual life before marriage, suicide, rape or witchcraft. In connection with this I tried to clear up why were criminal delicts like infanticide or witchcraft punished with such a brutal death penalty. As well as this I attempted to describe in details the fact that punishment was not irreversible. The town council was very open to requests of mercy especially if a priest or a clerk of local...
The development of the town of Nymburk
Kolbaba, Lukáš ; Dvořáková, Michaela (advisor) ; Samek, Tomáš (referee)
The nineteenth century, characterized by its industrial revolution, has brought many changes to people's lives. Nymburk as one of the centers of the middle Polabí, is a example when industry has changed the everyday life of the city's inhabitants. The task of the thesis is to describe the key sectors and, consequently, related events that have had an impact on the lives of the local population, and at the same time they have been a change for many centuries, rather, a rural town in an industrial city. The work starts from the earliest beginnings of the city to better illustrate the boom times and the fall of the city. Emphasis is placed above all on what took place in Nymburk itself, although it was very often the historical milestones for the whole country. The work will be based primarily on regional historical literature.

Fexová, Lucie ; Beneš, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Čechura, Jaroslav (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to restore awareness of the Czech sugar industry tradition. For this intention I chose Nymburk sugar factory in an era, when one of the most important personas of Czech sugar industry Hanuš Karlík was its director. The thesis consists of a brief introduction to the history of Czech sugar industry, where the establishment of Nymburk sugar factory is set, followed by a description of the period when Hanuš Karlík was the director and how his administration influenced both Nymburk sugar factory and sugar industry in general. In the conclusion, there is a view on the sugar factory after Karlík left and the fate of the sugar factory that led to an infamous end. The work is primarly based on local archival sources, memoirs and newspappers. Several books about the history of Nymburk and about common history of sugar industry are used to set the topic in a wider historical context.

Kolečková-Veselá, Jana ; Czumalo, Vladimír (advisor) ; Šmied, Miroslav (referee)
This work explores architectural elements of the church of the St. Jiljí in Nymburk. It deals with their description and analysis and sorts them according to the stages of development of the church. The present state of the object results from the restauration made by K. Hilbert at the beginning of 20th century. As there is no newer literature dedicated to the restored church in Nymburk, I have focused above all on this period. In my work the restauration of the church is incorporated in the context of specific periods. The work mentions the reasons of the new interest in historical monuments in the middle of 19th century, the political situation in the town, the reforms of the Church and other circumstances which led to the realization of the project. I describe in details Hilbert's initial projects of the restauration of the church and the circumstances leading to the restauration. I also mention the development of the autor's views and the causes of the changes of the project, and the possible sources of inspiration of K. Hilbert and how he was influenced by medieval and modern art. On this example I show the application of the new theories in the care of historical monuments. This attitude helped K. Hilbert to become a creative artist and to increase the value of this historical monument by...
The Images of a City: the Resident's View of the Town of Nymburk
Malá, Michaela ; Sládek, Jan (advisor) ; Illner, Michal (referee)
The diploma thesis The Images of a City: the Resident's View of the Town of Nymburk deals with the issue of why people behave differently. The thesis is inspired by the approach of behavioral geography, which is represented by Kevin Lynch's work. Lynch has proposed the concept of the image of the city, the people's vision about the surroundings of a place where they live. The image of the city consists of its visible features evoking a strong impression and having an effect on people's sensory perception. Moreover, the direct influence of the city represented by architectural-urbanistic determinism and environmental psychology is also taken into account. I have found out during the research that both of theoretical approaches are important for identifying the relation between the town and his residents which relates to the behavior in the town. The aim of the diploma thesis is to find out which images of the town of Nymburk its inhabitants have, which components create their images and what is the composition of these components. The thesis focuses both on universal image of Nymburk and on images of the town with regard to the current lifecycle stage and respondents' sex. The research is made by the qualitative method using the mental maps and the semi-structured interview with sixteen respondents...
